One of the first lakes on the drive through the New Jersey side of the Delaware Water Gap park is called Watergate.
Like its infamous namesake, this is a place you might like to avoid. It has a fairly hefty usage fee, large sterile grassed areas and a lack of the spectacular foliage that people come to see.

Isn't this a beautiful blossom?

Meaning of Rose Colors
Different colors of roses represent different feelings and emotions. Most rose growers have a personal color favorite and aren’t concerned with the underlying meaning. However, it’s still fun to understand the traditional meaning behind the colors of roses.

The meaning of love that the red rose expresses is the most well known of all the rose colors. Red roses have long symbolized love and romantic relationships. If given red roses by a gentleman ladies know he has strong romantic feelings for her. Red roses are also seen as classic. When reading about roses in poetry, song or a novel you often imagine a full red rose.

Pink roses are commonly presented as gifts and lovingly grown by gardeners alike. Pink roses can mean quite a variety of things from “thank you for your assistance” to “I’m thinking of you.” Pink roses like yellow are the perfect gift for just about anyone. You can choose darker pink for someone with a wild outgoing personality and pale pink for a gift recipient who is shy or calm and collected.

White roses represent purity and true love. They can be an excellent gift for a fiancé, a spouse on a wedding anniversary or the birth of a child. You also have the benefit of knowing white roses will always match a picky recipients décor incase this is a consideration as well.

Yellow roses have traditionally symbolized friendship. They’re such a sunny and cheerful flower that they’ve also been given to acknowledge or congratulate someone for a recent good fortune or happiness. Yellow roses, like pink, have the benefit of being an appropriate gift for just about anyone. You could present them to a wife or girlfriend who loves yellow flowers as well as a coworker, grandparent, friend or sibling.

Orange roses could be considered to have a similar meaning as yellow roses. They can also represent excitement or something new. If you’re starting a new chapter in your life or embarking on an exciting adventure with someone special orange roses could be an excellent gift giving choice.

The coconut palm is grown throughout the tropical world, for decoration as well as for its many culinary and non-culinary uses; virtually every part of the coconut palm has some human uses.

Nano Flowers

"Tiny representations of flowers and trees that are less than one thousandth the width of a human hair have been created by scientists in Cambridge, UK. The nano-sized plants are "grown" from tiny droplets of the liquid form of the metal gallium on a silicon surface. By varying the temperature and pressure of the growth process the wires can be fused together to form a variety of complex shapes in the range of 1-5 microns (millionths of a metre).
The scientists then expose the droplets to a gas containing methane and a reaction causes the gas to condense to form tiny wires of silicon carbide. The images appear in the Institute of Physics journal Nanotechnology. "Two that are currently being explored are their use as water repellent coatings and as a base for a new type of solar cell," he explained. "

Palm Tree
Palms are one of the most well-known and extensively cultivated plant families. They have had an important role to humans throughout much of history. Many common products and foods are derived from palms, and palms are also widely used in landscaping for their exotic appearance, making them one of the most economically important plants. In many historical cultures, palms were symbols for such ideas as victory, peace, and fertility. Today, palms remain a popular symbol for the tropics and vacations. As well as being morphologically diverse, palms also inhabit nearly every type of habitat within their range, from rainforests to deserts.

Nano FlowersBeauty is in the eye of the beholder and nanotechnology can sure look spectacular! Ghim Wei Ho, is a Ph.D. student working for Professor Mark Welland, at the University of Cambridge Nanoscale Science Laboratory and has produced some spectacular images of nano-flowers. They are three-dimensional Si composite nanostructures, taken with a scanning electron microscope. Ghim Wei Ho’s Ph.D. project in the Nanoscience Centre involves the fabrication and characterisation of novel nanostructures. In addition to ‘flowers’ Ghim Wei Ho can also grow nanowires, cones, rings etc. With the recent launch of the NanoVic Prizes for Art and Nanotechnologies I hope this will inspire budding scientists and photographers alike.

Drive your car through an actual redwood tree or on top of a redwood log! Count the rings of history as you explore the redwood forest. There are three "Drive-Through" Trees located on the North Coast. All are privately owned and a fee is charged to drive through. The closest one to Humboldt Redwoods State Park is the Shrine Drive-Thru Tree in Myers Flat, four miles south of the park visitor's center.

After falling out of favor for many years, cooking and garnishing with flowers is back in vogue once again. Flower cookery has been traced back to Roman times, and to the Chinese, Middle Eastern, and Indian cultures. Edible flowers were especially popular in the Victorian era during Queen Victoria's reign. Today, many restaurant chefs and innovative home cooks garnish their entrees with flower blossoms for a touch of elegance. The secret to success when using edible flowers is to keep the dish simple, do not add to many other flavors that will over power the delicate taste of the flower. Today this nearly lost art is enjoying a revival.Did you know that broccoli, cauliflower, and artichokes are all flowers? Also the spice saffron is the stamen from the crocus flower? Capers are unopened flower buds to a bush native in the Mediterranean and Asian nations.
